Raymond James hires industry veteran Theresa Schnetz to lead Western division

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James announced today that Theresa Schnetz, CFP®, CIMA®, has joined the firm as Western division director of its independent advisor channel, Raymond James Financial Services (RJFS).

Schnetz brings to Raymond James more than 35 years of experience in the wealth management industry and joins from Merrill Lynch where she most recently led the Sacramento, California-area market. She succeeds Bill Counsman, who retired from the role earlier this year.

“Theresa has a strong track record of leadership and advisor advocacy,” said Shannon Reid, president of RJFS Independent Contractor Division. “Her unique blend of experience gives her a fresh perspective while staying grounded in the entrepreneurial spirit that defines our division. As we continue to prioritize strategic growth in the West, Theresa’s guidance will be instrumental in expanding our market presence.”

She spent the last 15 years at Merrill Lynch after previous roles at Ameriprise, WM Group of Funds, Principal Funds and Ivy Funds. Schnetz began her career as a financial advisor and her experience is backed by the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Certified Investment Management Analyst® designations.

“Raymond James has a strong culture of supporting advisor independence,” said Schnetz. “Advisors here are encouraged to build their businesses on their terms and to make decisions that reflect their values and best serve their clients. Coaching advisors is my passion, and I am proud to be part of a firm that puts their success first.”
